About the role

Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in either downtown Salt Lake City, Utah or Houston, Texas. The FP&A team supports executive and business line leaders in making informed, data-driven decisions to enhance shareholder value.

Responsibilities

  • Create executive and board-level presentations explaining key financial trends
  • Publish monthly financial reporting for an executive audience
  • Contribute to annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes, owning the timeline for all groups within the bank and understanding the treasury and other central functions
  • Be a subject matter expert in various miscellaneous but impactful items such as FDIC insurance
  • Perform ad hoc analytical requests as needed

Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills, including INDEX-MATCH, XLOOKUP, TEXT, INDIRECT, array formulas, pivot tables with calculated fields, named objects, and basic VBA
  • Experience using Hyperion for reporting, planning, and ad hoc analysis (preferred)
  • Familiarity with bank products and financial statements (preferred)
  • Some familiarity with the banking capital regulatory environment (plus)
  • A desire and ability to find ways to continually improve processes and drive efficiency
  • Able to handle periodic tight deadlines and occasional extra workload
  • Able to contend with competing demands and occasionally changing requirements
  • Experience using SQL to query and manipulate large datasets (plus)
  • Experience using SAP Business Objects (plus)
  • 2-4 years of related work experience are required; additional experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related or quantitative discipline (finance, economics, math, etc.) is preferred
  • A Master’s degree in a related or quantitative discipline may substitute for experience (plus)
