Financial Analyst - CBS
About the role
The Financial Analyst will support the CBS News, Stations, and CBS Media Venture (CMV) Digital division and report to the Director, FP&A. The Analyst will assist in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of forecasts and budgets, tracking performance, managing monthly operating expenses, and using analysis to drive informed decision-making. This position offers wide-ranging exposure to evolving streaming platforms within a successful and growing global media organization.
Responsibilities
- Budgeting/Forecasting: Work on business models to manage forecasting of the monthly P&L and drive the annual budget and financial plans for CBS News, Stations, and CMV Digital Properties.
- Work with Accounting in preparation for monthly close, including managing month-end accruals, contracts, and invoices.
- Expense management, risk analysis, and mitigation.
- Actively monitor expense levers and cost controls required to maintain profitability and achieve budgeted profit targets.
- Collaborate closely with the following teams: Inventory & Pricing, Business Intelligence, Business Development, and Production to gain insight and knowledge that may impact the forecast.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Prepare financial data and various requests as needed, providing actionable analysis for internal review and rapid decision-making.
This role is pivotal in delivering strategic, financial, and operational insights that align with the goals of the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years of work experience in finance, accounting, or similar quantitative role; media, entertainment, and/or technology experience a plus.
Skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace suite skills, particularly Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- A willingness and quick ability to learn new software.
- Advanced knowledge in Oracle Financials a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to handle and synthesize large datasets to deliver critical insights in an easy-to-digest format for management and external partners.
- Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.
Pay
Hiring Salary Range: $64,800.00 - $85,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
