Financial Analyst

About the Role

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is seeking an entry-level Financial Analyst to support financial planning, accounting, budgeting, and analysis activities. This role works with department managers and investment project leaders to support six budget events per year, prepare financial information, and provide budget-to-actual analysis using professional accounting standards. The successful candidate will bring foundational accounting or finance knowledge, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft products such as Excel and PowerPoint. This is a supervised entry-level position with limited autonomous decision-making responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end close activities, including analysis of financial information and creation of journal entries that impact the financial condition of AHM / HDMA, with some supervision.
• Prepare budget-to-actual comparisons for assigned departments.
• Analyze budget-to-actual results using professional accounting standards to ensure accurate financial information.
• Advise management on future financial activity based on budget-to-actual analysis.
• Work with department managers and investment project leaders to support the creation of six budget events per year.
• Use financial information to create presentations for department leaders regarding budget-to-actual conditions.
• Make recommendations for areas of financial improvement based on analysis.

Requirements

• One of the following educational and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or Finance, with 0–2 years of experience; or
  • Associate's degree with at least 2 years of experience in an accounting-related job.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Cost Accounting.
• General understanding of accounting functions and terminology, with the ability to apply accounting concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Strong Microsoft product skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• SAP knowledge and skills.

Education & Experience

Education

Work Arrangement & Schedule

• Location: Timmonsville, South Carolina, United States
• Work arrangement: Hybrid / Office
• Overtime: 0–5 hours per week.
• Travel: Some travel required.
