About the role
Teledyne FLIR is seeking an experienced Accountant & Financial Analyst to support the Detection business unit. This role drives performance of Contract and Internal Research and Development portfolios, monitors budgets, prepares financial reports, and coordinates with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive performance of Contract and Internal Research and Development portfolios across multiple business units.
- Monitor project budgets, actuals, and forecasts to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Track and report on funding utilization, cost trends, and variances.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom financial analysis tools and portfolio-level reporting frameworks to improve visibility, accuracy, and consistency across programs.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership.
- Support long-range planning and annual operating plan processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals and adjustments, ensuring appropriate documentation and accuracy.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve discrepancies.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Act as the primary financial interface between program managers, engineering teams, and business unit leaders to provide financial guidance.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate with other business units to consolidate portfolio data and ensure consistency.
- Ensure adherence to corporate financial policies, US GAAP and government contract requirements.
- Support audits and internal reviews.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy.
- Lead implementation of best practices and standardize portfolio financial management processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
- 5 - 8+ years of experience in accounting, finance or project analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling capabilities.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems required, SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated continuous learning mindset and collaborative team orientation.

- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or eligible to obtain export control license.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This role is full-time and requires regular office attendance.
