About the role

The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) seeks to promote, protect, and improve the health and safety of all Hoosiers through various programs and initiatives. The Financial Analysts play a crucial role in supporting IDOH and program directors by ensuring proper financial requirements, spend, reporting, draws, and rebates activities of each grant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate reporting of agency financial data with respect to area of assignment.
  • Assist the controller in developing annual and biennial budgets.
  • Maintain compliance with grant provisions and monitor expenditures on an ongoing basis.
  • Review contracts to verify funding sources and adherence to annual budgets.
  • Prepare financial data for monthly and quarterly financial reviews.
  • Collaborate with the contract compliance officer on all financial-related matters.
  • Develop and revise funding models for current or future agency programs.
  • Analyze and research issues of interest for other program areas within the agency, identifying patterns and trends.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of public finance theories, principles, and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures relevant to public finance programs.
  • Specialized knowledge of automated fiscal systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer and software programs.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependability, attention to detail, good time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond quickly to issues and needs.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage workflow.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to accurately review, track, and analyze financial data.
  • Ability to formulate sound recommendations and make appropriate decisions considering potential impacts on agency programs.
  • Ability to analyze and audit fiscal accounts, contracts, records, claims transactions, and financial reports.
  • Coordination of workflow of subordinate employees.

Pay

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

Schedule

The schedule for this role is typically full-time, with occasional overtime required for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work.
