About the Role
SkyBridge Tactical is seeking experienced Financial Analysts to provide budget, accounting, financial management, and program-analysis support to a Department of Defense customer in San Diego, California. The Financial Analyst will support budget planning, formulation, execution, reporting, fiscal compliance, and process improvement. The successful candidate must be able to analyze complex financial information, identify trends and potential issues, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations to Government leadership.
Responsibilities
- Develop annual and multi-year spend plans supporting budget planning and submission requirements.
- Monitor budget execution to identify spending trends, potential funding shortfalls, surpluses, and other financial risks.
- Help ensure the proper, legal, and efficient use of Government funds.
- Analyze financial execution trends and provide recommendations for meeting established obligation and expenditure targets.
- Compile financial information from multiple Government and service-level data sources.
- Prepare accurate recurring and ad hoc budget, accounting, and financial-management reports.
- Prepare budget exhibits using prescribed Department of Defense templates.
- Develop supporting documentation and financial justification for budget submissions.
- Analyze and process funding requests for compliance with applicable fiscal laws, policies, and business rules.
- Evaluate the appropriate use and availability of different funding types.
- Assign and validate financial accounting structures in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Provide recommendations concerning financial policy, accounting guidance, and the proper recording of complex accounting events.
- Apply appropriate accounting methods and principles when supporting financial-statement compilation and reporting.
- Evaluate financial products, processes, and procedures for compliance with Government standards, accounting principles, internal controls, and system requirements.
- Identify operational or financial-management weaknesses and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Prepare studies, plans, briefings, and analyses supporting organizational and program requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with Government personnel, organizational leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Perform assigned work under broad direction while independently managing priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret security clearance at the start of employment.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business, finance, accounting, or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant education and specialized experience may be substituted for one another on a prorated basis.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense budgeting, financial management, accounting, or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with current military concepts, processes, and procedures.
- Understanding of fiscal compliance principles governing the proper use of Government funds.
- Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and develop defensible recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to create professional reports, spreadsheets, budget exhibits, analyses, and leadership briefings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Government personnel and other stakeholders.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting Department of Defense budget planning, formulation, execution, or financial reporting.
- Experience preparing budget exhibits and supporting documentation using prescribed Government templates.
- Experience reviewing funding requests for fiscal compliance.
- Experience with Government financial-management or accounting data sources.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial-statement compilation, and process improvement.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, data reconciliation, formulas, pivot tables, and reporting.
