Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary financial business partner to the Trading Cards Category Lead, providing timely analysis, scenario modeling, and decision support.
- Build trust-based relationships with studio, product, sales, and operations stakeholders and proactively surface risks and opportunities.
- Analyze, report, and manage key category KPIs (revenue, COGS, gross margin, SKU productivity, operating expenses).
- Monitor and help optimize the category P&L, including product portfolio mix, print/production economics, and timing of releases.
- Prepare monthly performance reviews, variance analyses, and commentary for senior leadership.
- Career Growth and Development
- Coordinate financial planning for the category: annual strategy, budget, and rolling forecasts.
- Model demand, revenue, and margin scenarios for new products, reprints, and new channels; highlight sensitivities and break-even points.
- Support headcount and operating expense planning for the studio.
- Product, Pricing, and Business Cases
- Develop business plans, product calculations, pricing proposals, and “what-if” analyses to support commercial decisions.
- Partner with Sales/Trade Marketing on pricing corridors to protect margin while staying competitive in the TCG space.
- Evaluate investment and efficiency opportunities and quantify impact.
- Process and Reporting Improvement
- Support continuous improvement of reporting, tools, and financial processes (SAP-BI, Analysis for Office, Excel models).
- Help standardize dashboards for leadership so they can see category performance at a glance.
- Executive Communication
- Translate complex financial data into clear and compelling presentations for senior executives — what happened, why it happened, and what we recommend next.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience as a Financial Analyst, Commercial/FP&A Analyst, or similar analytical role.
- Demonstrated experience owning P&L components, preparing accurate budgets/forecasts, and delivering variance analyses.
- Strong financial modeling skills in Excel; comfortable working with MS Office, SAP-BI, and Analysis for Office (or similar BI tools).
- Proven ability to turn data into decisions — not just reporting numbers but explaining drivers and recommending actions.
- Strong analytical skills, precision with numbers, and a high bar for quality (especially important for supporting game/TCG launches).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leaders.
- Ability to work independently as a business partner while also collaborating across functions and time zones.
- Experience in toys, games, consumer goods, or entertainment/licensing environments.
- Experience supporting a product portfolio (multiple SKUs, multiple drops/releases, or seasonal content).
- Familiarity with standard costing, margin analysis, and pricing strategy.
- Experience working in a matrixed / global structure (U.S. subsidiary, German parent) a plus.
- Additional language skills (German, French) a plus.
