Financial Analyst
About the role
You will report to the Controller for Kimball Electronics Jasper (KEJ). You will support the accuracy of financial statements for KEJ, month end closing process, internal controls structure and providing accurate data for management decision-making. You will be "hands-on" and guide profitability through creative performance measures and to enhance decision-making through proactive and financial information. The financial analyst supports the controller in providing Corporate Accounting with accurate financial information that supports KII's external reporting requirements. This position must be flexible in meeting the changing needs of the accounting team and be a "big picture thinker" to understand the impact of the responsibilities being performed to the departments other related processes.
Performance goals
Short-term (0 to 2 months):
- Learn and perform month end processes required for accurate financial statements
- Learn and understand Kimball Electronics culture (external candidates)
- Understand the KEJ production facility to provide accurate financial data
- Learn and perform all PPV processes
- Learn the quoting process
- Learn and understand the 6S audit process
Midterm (3 to 6 months):
- Prepare and distribute necessary business reports (daily/weekly/monthly)
- Prepare quotes and SPR's as needed
- Provide quoting statistics on a monthly basis
- Perform monthly 6S audit
- Own the record retention process
- Work with the standard cost system
- Understand the quote process and the customer profitability process and how both relate to the decision support data provided to management
Longer term:
- Help lead and perform annual price rolls for multiple customers
- Provide recommendations for customer cost down opportunities
- Cross train with other Financial Analyst team members
Other (ad hoc priorities):
- Achieve Green Belt Certification in KEJ's Yellow/Green/Black Belt Certification Program
- Respond to audit inquiries promptly
- Decision Support-focused ad-hoc projects
Qualifications
- The ability to work with all levels
- A bachelor's degree (typically accounting or finance) or equivalent work experience
Skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office
- Helpful, but not required: MBA, CMA, or APICS (manufacturing) certifications
- Helpful, but not required: knowledge of SAP
