About The Role

The Financial Analyst-Research position at Endeavor Health is a vital role within our research finance team, responsible for overseeing and managing financial activities related to sponsored research projects. This role involves meticulous review and analysis of expenditures, ensuring compliance with federal, organizational, and sponsor-specific policies. The successful candidate will prepare detailed financial reports, assist in budget development, and collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs), Research Managers, and Research Directors to ensure the financial health of research initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in research financial management to contribute to groundbreaking medical research and innovative healthcare solutions. The role is based in Evanston, IL, and involves working during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Candidates will be part of a dynamic team committed to supporting research excellence and operational efficiency within a leading healthcare organization.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Certification in Research Financials, such as NCURA (National Council of University Research Administrators) or ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals), is highly preferred.
  • Candidates must have relevant experience in post-award management within healthcare organizations, universities, or research institutions, demonstrating a strong understanding of research funding, grants management, and financial compliance.
  • Familiarity with NIH Grants Policy Statements, OMB Circular A-133, DHHS policies, and PCORI policies is advantageous.
  • Experience with enterprise-level ERP systems, particularly Workday Finance or Workday Grants, will be considered a significant asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • The core responsibilities of the Financial Analyst-Research include reviewing all expenditures and FTE distributions on research accounts to ensure compliance with award and organizational policies.
  • The analyst will review and approve requisitions related to sponsored project expenditures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgets.
  • Preparing comprehensive financial reports for research portfolios and presenting these to CRU managers, directors, and PIs quarterly is a key aspect of the role.
  • The analyst will identify and resolve discrepancies, correcting expenses posted incorrectly via journal entries or other mechanisms.
  • Collaboration with PIs and the CRU team is essential for providing salary and fringe benefit information, preparing financial progress reports, projecting surpluses or deficits, and planning future research expenditures aligned with award timelines.
  • Additionally, the role involves managing research labor distributions, adjusting budgets as necessary, and supporting the completion of project-specific financial tasks.
  • The position also requires flexibility to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the research finance operations.
