About the role

The Financial Analyst will provide financial insight and analytics that guide operational and financial decision making; driving profitability and growth. They will manage month end preparation, consolidation, variance analysis, key driver commentary, risks and opportunity call-outs, and management reporting. The role involves developing robust processes and reporting with clarity around operational activity in the month that drove the financial results. The Financial Analyst will maintain the standard cost process including leading the effort on labor rates, routings, and material cost through the annual standard cost roll. They will also develop forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range strategic planning. The role requires partnering with operations to ensure revenue, COGS, headcount, operating expenses, and Capex are accurate and aligned with the business unit's goals. The Financial Analyst must drive process improvements through various projects and initiatives that result in superior financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial insight and analytics that guide operational and financial decision making; driving profitability and growth.
  • Manage month end preparation, consolidation, variance analysis, key driver commentary, risks and opportunity call-outs, and management reporting.
  • Develop robust processes and reporting with clarity around operational activity in the month that drove the financial results.
  • Maintain the standard cost process including leading the effort on labor rates, routings, and material cost through the annual standard cost roll.
  • Develop forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range strategic planning.
  • Partner with operations to ensure revenue, COGS, headcount, operating expenses, and Capex are accurate and aligned with the business unit's goal.
  • Enhance and/or develop reporting metrics and tools for the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting of plant performance.
  • Drive delivery of the financial commitments made by the Operations team.
  • Ensure delivery of savings targets through continuous improvement activities and partnerships with operations to align with business unit goals.
  • Ensure that new capital investments and sourcing decisions are supported with sound financial analyses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar.
  • A seasoned financial and manufacturing operations professional with at least 2+ years of related business experience and a progressive career path in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in contract manufacturing or machining / molding operations.
  • Strong experience driving key metrics, reporting, and “anticipating” key issues based on forecasts, manufacturing capacity, and partnering with the Operations leadership (Plant Manager) to mitigate risk.
  • Strong experience owning month-end preparation and reporting findings and providing recommendations to managers and other key stakeholders, as needed.
  • Honed analytical and problem-solving skills. A strong propensity to action and problem solving through sound judgement, proactivity, and efficient organization.
  • Ability to communicate analyses and performance metrics in a clear, simple and compelling manner. Strong influencer with a demonstrated successful track record for highlighting areas of opportunity and partnering with the General Manager on measurable action plans.
  • Well-developed cost/managerial accounting skills, including standard cost and project cost accounting.
  • Strong sensitivity to the voice of the customer, both internal and external.
  • Experience with contributing to Operational Excellence and Lean tools to manage a business more effectively with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Possess strong communication skills and a personable, engaging management style.
  • Strong understanding of BOM’s, Routing and variances and how they interact with the ERP system. Along with the ability to communicate issues and how they should be fixed.
  • Experience with P&L analysis and variance reporting.

Qualifications

Pay

Anticipated salary range: $75,000-$100,000/year depending on qualifications and experience.
