This position reports to the Director, Finance and serves as the key financial leader and trusted advisor for assigned regional Manheim Auctions. The Senior Manager will reside in IL, MN, or WI (preferred) or be located in the Central or Mountain time zones with accessibility to a major airport.

About the Role

The Senior Manager is responsible for the overall financial management of assigned locations, proactively engaging with business leaders to anticipate issues, provide insights, and drive decision-making through sound financial management. A focus on continuous improvement—including enhancing Finance processes and procedures—is essential. The role involves partnering across the broader finance organization and with key business stakeholders to optimize processes and integrate improvements into operating plans. Ongoing individual and team development within the finance organization is critical to adapting to the company’s shifting business model and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the assigned auction Finance team, providing regular communication, feedback, and development opportunities to ensure high employee engagement.
  • Prepare and review consolidated monthly and annual financial results for Auction Leadership, Regional leadership, and the center finance team.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Credit & Collections, Operations, and Administrative functions, to foster collaboration.
  • Provide thought leadership and financial analysis to identify and influence operational efficiencies, operating model opportunities, and cost structure improvements.
  • Analyze trends and key variances to plans, partnering with Senior Management, Regional leadership, and the center finance team to improve operating results.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and presenting monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term financial plans.
  • Create driver-based models to support Auctions and build/oversee business cases for new investment ideas, establishing an ongoing culture of evaluation.
  • Remain current on best practices and trends in finance and related technologies.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at operating locations and key corporate stakeholders, ensuring they understand and value Finance services.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across Cox Automotive to ensure appropriate service levels are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting with 8+ years of business experience, including financial planning (budget/forecast), financial analysis, and business case modeling. Alternately, a Master’s Degree with 6+ years or a Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience. Non-degreed candidates require 12+ years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management or lead role.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts, practices, and procedures (e.g., IRR, NPV, DCF, payback).
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, intellectual curiosity, and a track record of delivered results.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including logical/reference formulas, financial functions, pivot tables, best practices in financial model structure, assumption toggling, charting/graphing, and formatting for executive presentations.
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Reporting/Essbase is a plus.
  • Ability to operate and work across functional groups in a matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and insights.
  • Strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with flexibility to balance multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced MS PowerPoint skills preferred, with an emphasis on professional presentation design.
  • Up to 50% travel required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Pay

Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $122,700.00 - $204,500.00, with potential eligibility for an incentive program. The final base salary may vary based on location and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.
