Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide continuous financial aid assistance and counseling services on a daily basis to students, parents, university staff and others regarding financial aid policy and processes through email, telephone, in person, presentations, and social media.
- Review financial aid applications, determine eligibility, and award aid.
- Administer Federal, State, and institutional financial aid programs.
- Review and interpret regulations in reference to financial aid awarding requirements, to ensure continued eligibility.
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of various reports.
- Visit secondary schools, community colleges, and community groups to promote and explain the University's financial aid program.
- Represent the Office of Financial Aid to one or more University departments and offices.
- Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and use professional judgment in order to determine financial aid eligibility and award financial aid, is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during certain times of the year is required.
- One year of direct financial aid office experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Access, Crystal Reports and SCT Banner is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the University's Red Flags Rule and Identify Theft Prevention Policy and Procedure.
