The Agency of Digital Services (ADS) is looking for an experienced Financial Administrator to join our business office team. The business office supports the financial operations of the agency through budget development and monitoring, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, purchasing, vendor management, and related operational functions of ADS. Our mission is to work together with our partners in state government to deliver simple and intuitive technology solutions that improve the lives of the citizens of Vermont. About the role

You will work with a small team of finance and accounting professionals and collaborate with other agency/department business offices and ADS staff. This is a hybrid position, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays, and in-office work in Montpelier from Tuesday to Thursday. The role involves working 25-40 hours per week. A fingerprint-supported background check may be required based on the assigned job duties and location.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable functions (routing of invoices for approval, invoice processing, posting of wire payments)
  • Coordination with vendors and purchasing agents
  • Providing back-up support to other business office functions as needed
  • Utilizing Vision and VTBuys, the State's financial management systems

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/office administration.
  • Bachelor's degree including 20 college credit hours in accounting AND one year or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing financial data and records.
  • Associate's degree in accounting, business/office administration AND two years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing financial data and records.
  • Associate's degree including 20 college credit hours in accounting AND one year or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing financial data and records.
  • High School diploma or equivalent AND four years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing financial data and records.
  • One year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist III with the State of Vermont.

All levels of required accounting experience, unless otherwise noted, must have been performed to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standards.

Special Requirements

For some positions, experience working with the VISION system (the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.

Pay

As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 22 will be $26.50 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $41.37 per hour.

Schedule

  • Hybrid position: remote work on Mondays and Fridays, in-office work in Montpelier from Tuesday to Thursday.
  • 25-40 hours per week.
  • This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
