About the role
This position offices in-person, at our Business Services offices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules for management and leadership
- Manage key aspects of the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and financial review procedures
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, investment accounts, and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to finance leadership
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records and calculate monthly depreciation
- Reconcile donor-restricted funds, endowment activity, and other designated accounts with the general ledger and supporting records
- Aid in accounting and reporting related to contributions, grants, fundraising initiatives, and other nonprofit revenue streams
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and forecasts to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Cover audit schedules, prepare supporting documentation, and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors during annual financial statement audits
- Support the annual operating and capital budgeting processes
- Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), organizational policies, and established accounting procedures
- Maintain documentation and workpapers that support financial reporting accuracy and audit readiness
- Assist in partnership with departments across the school to provide financial guidance, reporting support, and training as needed
- Support special projects, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional Business Services priorities
- Stay current on accounting standards, nonprofit accounting practices, AI advancements, and industry trends impacting independent schools and finance operations
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the school's mission and operational objectives

Pay
$65,000 - $75,000 Salary
Schedule
Full-Time, Exempt, Year-round schedule. 12-Month Calendar. This position offices in-person, at our Business Services offices.
