About the role
The Patient Financial Counselor - Front Desk Patient Support role at UW Medicine Insurance Eligibility and Financial Counseling Services Team (IECS) is a 40% FTE (16 hours per week) variable shift, onsite position at Harborview Medical Center. The position highlights include acting as a patient advocate, providing insurance clearance service, and supporting the patient financial services and patient relations goals of the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patients and determine appropriate financial assistance opportunities
- Manage all aspects of UW Medicine’s Financial Assistance front-desk processes
- Adequately access patient’s needs and potential funding
- Document the progress of each case in Epic notes
- Act as a liaison to the billing department
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights
- Access and use the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties for authorized purposes only
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- One year of experience in a medical office setting

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details
Pay Range: Minimum $46,344.00 annual, maximum $66,264.00 annual. Benefits available at this link. Shift: Alternate Work Shift (United States of America). Temporary or Regular: Regular. FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): 40.00%. Union/Bargaining Unit: SEIU Local 925. Nonsupervisory.
