Finance Optimization Intern

Hilltop Holdings is seeking a Finance Optimization Intern to work closely with our Finance teams and other departments, gaining hands-on experience while assisting with key initiatives across the company.

About the role

This individual will develop entry-level experience in the financial services industry, including exposure to Finance, Accounting, or Tax functions, organizational transformation tasks, and strategic planning support. The role involves interaction with C-suite and executive leadership, providing clerical, administrative, and project support.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to basic functions in Finance, Accounting, or Tax and develop foundational experience in financial services.
• Provide clerical and administrative support to finance teams.
• Assist with strategic planning, including monthly analysis, projections, and identifying revenue/expense trends.
• Support projects analyzing firm performance and compiling reports.
• Fulfill ad hoc requests from C-suite and executive leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Rising Senior pursuing a degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, statistics, or a related field (preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in computer hardware, operating systems (Windows/Mac), and software/applications (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and PowerBI is a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Proven self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Desire to learn about career opportunities in financial services.
• Must have authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
