About the role

Join Amazon’s long-term initiative to design, launch, and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved communities globally. This is a ground-floor opportunity in a next-billion-dollar business, seeking an entrepreneurial Finance Manager to partner with the Quality Assurance (QA) organization and Manufacturing Analytics & Reporting in a start-up environment.

This role owns end-to-end financial management for the QA organization—covering source inspections, inbound quality, manufacturing quality operations, Payload Processing Facility (PPF) quality, and equipment calibration—while developing analytics frameworks and reporting tools for financial visibility across satellite production. You will directly influence leadership’s understanding of satellite production economics by developing Total Cost Per Unit (TCPU) metrics, building KPI dashboards from SAP/MES data, and driving financial planning for a large QA workforce with significant OpEx budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Own the annual operating plan (OP1/OP2), quarterly forecasts, and monthly close processes for the QA organization.
  • Develop and maintain headcount models for full-time and contingent workforce, partnering with QA leadership to assess staffing needs against production volume and quality metrics.
  • Build financial frameworks to analyze workforce utilization vs. inspection workload and create tracking mechanisms to monitor actual vs. forecasted spend.
  • Leverage Amazon’s AI tools to develop intelligent analytical dashboards, automate anomaly detection, generate predictive insights on cost trends and material scrap, and accelerate reporting cycles.
  • Simplify complex data sets into concise performance indicators that provide actionable insights to end users.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) framework quantifying the financial impact of quality failures across the production lifecycle.
  • Build financial models linking scrap rates and yield loss to TCPU impact, enabling leadership to prioritize root-cause corrective actions with the highest cost-avoidance potential.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior managers and cross-functional partners, providing insights during Weekly Business Reviews (WBR), Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), and executive operating reviews.

About the team

  • Unprecedented scale: Be part of building the world’s largest satellite constellation—manufacturing at a pace never attempted before.
  • Day 1 mentality: Build financial processes, analytics frameworks, and reporting tools from the ground up as production ramps.
  • Mission-driven: Help bring broadband connectivity to billions of people globally.
  • Cross-functional impact: Partner with world-class engineers, quality professionals, operations leaders, and analytics teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science).
  • 5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
  • 5+ years of experience building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making.
  • Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects.
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy.
  • 5+ years of experience dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy.
  • Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or CPA.
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
  • Experience with Oracle, Essbase, TM1, and similar tools.
  • Experience in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud Platform, SAP Cloud ERP, and Cloud ERP Private.

Pay
