About the role
The Finance Manager will oversee the fiscal functions for the Departments of Arts and Entertainment Technologies (AET) and the Department of Design (DES), aligning these units with the college's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as principal financial consultant to the department chairs, overseeing and conducting complex accounting and finance functions.
- Collaborate with and advise department leadership on strategic planning and fiscal goal setting.
- Develop annual operating budgets, including endowments and instructional funding.
- Coordinate fiscal and accounting activities with collaborating departments.
- Aid in special projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with college goals.
- Review and evaluate department activities to improve operational effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain financial procedures, reporting, account structure, and approval frameworks.
- Prepare annual budget update documents and ad-hoc financial reports.
- Initiate reconciliation processes and manage fiscal year-end activities.
- Review and approve account requests, professional payments, travel reimbursements, and other financial transactions.
- Supervise one business affairs staff member and up to three student employees, providing training and evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting, with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- At least three years of supervisory experience.
- Robust analytical skills and ability to communicate complex data clearly.
- Excellent communication, planning, problem-solving, project management, and customer service skills.
Qualifications
- Experience with university systems such as DEFINE, FRMS, Cognos, and Workday.
- Intermediate or advanced MS Excel features (formulas, tables, pivot tables).
- Experience with MS Word Mail Merge.
