About the role

The AWS EBS Finance team is seeking a Finance Manager to support one of AWS's largest services, the Elastic Block Store (EBS). This role serves as a key Finance partner for the Product team, working directly with EBS Product Management. The role involves owning end-to-end financial planning, analysis, and strategic recommendations for a portfolio of products spanning P&L management, pricing strategy, and go-to-market optimization. The Finance Manager will build financial models that inform multi-billion dollar decisions around new product launches, regional rollouts, and enterprise deal structures. They will partner directly with senior business leaders as a trusted advisor on investment priorities, resource allocation, and long-term growth strategy. The role requires influencing long-term business strategy by independently aligning financial and operational analyses with business partners, challenging assumptions when necessary, and providing recommendations that drive data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as key Finance partner for the Product team, working directly with EBS Product Management.
  • Own end-to-end financial planning, analysis, and strategic recommendations for a portfolio of products.
  • Spanning P&L management, pricing strategy, and go-to-market optimization.
  • Build financial models that inform multi-billion dollar decisions around new product launches, regional rollouts, and enterprise deal structures.
  • Partner directly with senior business leaders as a trusted advisor on investment priorities, resource allocation, and long-term growth strategy.
  • Develop and present insights to senior leadership through business reviews, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Influence long-term business strategy by independently aligning financial and operational analyses with business partners, challenging assumptions when necessary and providing recommendations that influence data-driven decision making.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, sales, and operations teams to translate business priorities into financial frameworks.
  • Identify and quantify Risks & Opportunities, proactively surfacing trends and anomalies (look around corners).
  • Drive operational excellence and controllership across your business area, utilizing automation and AI-powered tools to enhance financial processes and accelerate decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for process and systems improvements, including automation and coordination with upstream and downstream organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
  • 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
  • 5+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving
  • Experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
