About the role

The AWS Energy & Sustainability Finance team is part of the AWS Infrastructure Finance organization. We provide critical support in the form of financial valuation, investment decisions, and driving the global portfolio strategy for Amazon's Energy portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the reporting for our AMER energy portfolio, supporting our sustainability goals and scaling AWS data center growth
  • Lead financial evaluation and analysis of complex, long-term energy agreements; develop comprehensive financial models to assess deal economics, risks, and returns; provide strategic recommendations to shape deal structures and influence go-forward energy procurement strategies while ensuring alignment with AWS's financial objectives and growth targets
  • Report on the financial performance of our Energy portfolio, and assist the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual reviews
  • Develop automated web-based tooling and reporting to support the financial reporting on our operating renewable deals, energy deals, and energy capex reporting

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
  • 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
  • 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
