About the Role
Osmo, a digital olfaction company, is seeking a Finance & Operations Engineer to join the Office of the CFO. This role encompasses financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial modeling, finance engineering, business operations, and investor support. The ideal candidate will bring a tech-forward, builder's mindset to streamline processes, automate workflows, and partner with business leaders to drive informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- FP&A and Financial Modeling:
- Own and maintain the corporate financial model, including P&L, cash forecasts, and scenario analyses.
- Build and manage department-level budgets, track actuals vs. plan, and provide variance analysis.
- Prepare board- and investor-facing financial materials, including slides, data room exhibits, and ad hoc analyses.
- Support month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Design models for strategic decisions (e.g., make-vs-buy, pricing, headcount ROI, capital allocation).
- Automate manual processes and improve data infrastructure connecting business systems to the corporate model.
- Finance Engineering & Systems:
- Identify and improve manual processes, brittle workflows, and data gaps.
- Build automations for reporting, reconciliations, variance alerts, and close checklists.
- Integrate finance tools and systems for real-time data flows.
- Evaluate and implement AI capabilities to enhance finance operations.
- Business Operations & Finance Business Partnering:
- Serve as the primary finance contact for department heads, translating financial data into actionable insights.
- Partner with business units on budget planning and forecast updates, challenging assumptions and ensuring financial rigor.
- Own variance narratives and collaborate with leaders to address gaps.
- Lead cross-functional projects and maintain operational infrastructure (vendor management, contract administration, compliance filings).
- Investor & Leadership Support:
- Prepare materials for investor due diligence and fundraising processes.
- Support board and investor reporting, drafting materials for board packages and updates.
- Take on delegated workstreams from the CFO, delivering finished products independently.
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, or a similar analytical role.
- Advanced financial modeling skills, with the ability to build and audit complex models.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong stakeholder management.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on clarity and conciseness.
- Tech-forward approach, including AI tooling, scripting/API familiarity, and automation focus.
- Comfort with ambiguity and making judgment calls in the absence of complete information.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems (NetSuite preferred).
Ways to Stand Out
- Experience building or maintaining finance-related data pipelines, automations, or integrations.
- Previous role at a venture-backed startup (Series A/B/C) in finance or business operations.
- Exposure to investor relations, due diligence, or fundraising processes.
- Familiarity with spend management and HRIS platforms (e.g., Ramp, JustWorks).
- Background in technically complex industries (AI/ML, chemicals, biotech, manufacturing, etc.).
Pay
Salary Range: $134,000 – $184,000
