Finance Director

This hands-on leadership role serves as a key member of the City's leadership team, providing strategic direction while actively leading the City's day-to-day financial operations. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Finance Director oversees the full spectrum of municipal finance functions, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, investments, debt management, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-range financial strategies and implement sound fiscal policies.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to City leadership, elected officials, and the community, translating complex financial information into clear recommendations that support informed decision-making.
• Prepare and administer the biennial budget.
• Oversee financial reporting and audits.
• Manage grants and capital financing.
• Analyze utility rates and investments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
• Partner closely with department leaders to align financial resources with organizational priorities.
• Provide leadership for accounting, utility billing, municipal court administration, purchasing, risk management, insurance programs, and contract administration.

Qualifications

• At least five years of related experience in municipal finance and governmental accounting, including two years of leadership experience.
• Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse stakeholder groups.
• Prior experience with fund accounting is desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field is required.
• Master’s degree in public administration, finance, or a related field is desired.
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is beneficial.
• Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities qualifies.

Pay

The salary range for the Finance Director is $108,290 - $141,022 and will depend on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
