About the role
The Business Services Directorate (BSD) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) provides crucial financial, procurement, and sales, and project management services to the Lab. BSD supports the Lab's mission of operating on behalf of the Department of Energy.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of financial and/or accounting activities, including maintaining, controlling, analyzing, and developing complex financial/accounting records, reports, and systems.
- Provide or assist in business advice and services to management and staff to ensure compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, policies, and sound business practices.
- Adhere to and communicate business policies and procedures, including training and interpretation for the various organizations supported.
- Independently invoice, finalize invoices, and close out accounts, handle refunds, write-offs, account reconciliations, clear suspense accounts, and bill to other Hanford Contractors.
- Recognize and adhere to diverse contractual invoicing requirements, meet critical deadlines, and resolve billed and unbilled issues promptly.
- Work with minimal supervision, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to high-impact projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and 6 years of relevant experience OR AA or higher and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in standard office equipment and MS Office Suite (Excel and Access); ability to prioritize work and manage commitments; understanding of office support functions and ability to apply procedures independently; ability to identify potential administrative problems and recommend solutions; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and direct workflow; ability to use discretion, make decisions, interact positively with a wide variety of staff and clients, and resolve/administer a wide range of administrative issues; ability to provide training and guidance to less senior or new staff when necessary.
