Finance & Accounting - Analyst Capital Expenditure
Location: Memphis, Tennessee (Hybrid, 2-3 days on-site)
About the role
This is a critical finance support role responsible for capital project accounting and fixed asset accounting. The position supports a substantial workload across multiple property portfolios and corporate projects. The successful candidate will manage the monitoring, reporting, and forecasting of capital expenditures, support funding requests, and handle project close-outs while ensuring compliance with internal standards and controls.
Responsibilities
- Monitor capital expenditures against established budgets and prepare weekly project status updates.
- Develop periodic project financial forecasts and prepare monthly project expenditure reports.
- Manage project closeout documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Perform compliance duties, including the maintenance of internal controls and SOX compliance.
- Review budgets, compare actuals versus forecasts, and analyze variances for financial reporting.
- Support the accounting for capitalized legal fees, development bonuses, and intangibles.
- Communicate with Directors of Finance, property leaders, and corporate finance stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with other finance and corporate departments.
Requirements
- One (1) year of professional experience in Accounting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including managing large data sets, analysis, and reporting.
- Professional and confident communication skills for interacting with finance leadership.
- Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and handle multiple, concurrent demands.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in Accounting.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting or capital expenditure (CAPEX) accounting.
- Experience with PeopleSoft, particularly Project Costing and Asset Management modules.
- Working knowledge of Power BI.
- Experience in industries such as Hospitality, Real Estate, Construction, or Manufacturing.
Schedule
This role offers a hybrid work schedule in Memphis, TN, with Monday required onsite and an additional one to two days onsite weekly.
Pay
Pay Rate: $33-$35/hr based on experience level (paid weekly on a W2 + contractor benefits). Contract Duration: 3-month contract with a strong possibility of extension.
