Finaler, Marathon Equipment
About the Role
This Finaler position is primarily responsible for installing components onto products in the final department at Environmental Solutions Group – Marathon Equipment in Vernon, AL. The role reports to the Production Supervisor within the Operations department on the 1st shift.
Responsibilities
- Receive and check priority list from Final/Dock Supervisor for daily product assembly.
- Locate and compile parts necessary for compactor assemblies, including manually transporting parts up to 40 pounds and performing repetitive overhead work.
- Assemble panel boxes for compactor products, including installing relays, timers, starters, transformers, conduits, and electrical wiring in fittings.
- Install power packs, panel boxes, and hydraulic cylinders onto compactor products, including assembling electrical wiring and fittings.
- Assemble wires for motors, solenoids, pressure, and limit switches for compactors.
- Operate welding equipment to attach braces, stands, and actuators onto compactors.
- Visually inspect welds and cutting of components for quality.
- Prepare daily production tally sheets and submit to Final/Dock Supervisor.
- Observe all safety regulations and report unsafe working conditions.
- Check KanBan cards and parts daily; notify lead person or supervisor to ensure timely ordering of parts.
- Use a hand-held programmer to program PLCs for use in Final.
- Apply working knowledge of PLCs and new design boards/computers.
- Use computer knowledge to look up prints and schematics on the AS-400 system.
- Maintain regular attendance and accept overtime assignments as required.
- Assist with Cleaner’s duties as necessary.
- Serve as backup for Power Pack Assembler, demonstrating thorough knowledge of the role.
- Drive company vehicles to field service locations and vendor sites to pick up parts.
- Operate forklifts for transporting parts to and from the Final Department.
- Cut and crimp hydraulic hoses for compactors.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment, and tools.
- Willingness to be trained on the assembly process and assist in running the department in the absence of the Lead or Supervisor.
- Perform other various duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand general arithmetic, write clearly, and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, billing materials, parts lists, and hydraulic patterns.
- Knowledge typically acquired through high school plus additional course study or equivalent experience.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Mental: Requires normal attention with intermittent periods of high concentration to operate machinery and equipment.
- Physical: Involves walking/standing approximately 80% of the time, sitting 20%, and lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 30% of the time. Includes repetitive overhead work (15%) and repetitive stooping, forward bending, and crouching (80%).
- Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; operation of welding equipment, hand grinder, hand drill, drill press, hand pallet jack, general hand tools, and recording written information.
- Audible Demands: Ability to follow verbal instructions and hear for safety purposes.
- Visual: Ability to visually observe essential functions for job performance and safety; color perception and depth perception required.
- Environmental: Exposure to plant environments with dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
