Position Description
Assemble and develop both new and/or refurbished fin dies using precision dial indicators and set-up blocks to properly locate each station. Disassemble, evaluate, and detail replacement tooling required to refurbish fin dies, fin presses, and expanders. Develop others in the skills and techniques of developing and refurbishing Fin Dies, Fin Presses, and Expanders.
Responsibilities
- Tool and die changeover, troubleshoot and correct equipment malfunctions, perform preventative maintenance, machine and fabricate parts as needed, and rebuild production equipment.
- Assemble and develop both new and/or refurbished fin dies with quality, cost, and delivery in mind.
- Disassemble, evaluate, and detail replacement tooling required to refurbish fin dies, fin presses, and expanders.
- Assist immediate supervisor in assigning shop orders for assembly and insures that labor is reported properly.
- Ensures that top quality, planned cost, and promised deliveries are met.
- Ensures that assembly personnel adhere to all company safety and fire preventive policies while performing their work.
- Ensures that assembly department floor, machinery, and tooling is clean and orderly at all times.
Required Education & Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school education or equivalent is preferred with (2) years of vocational training desired.
- A minimum of (4) years experience in Machine Shop.
- A minimum of (6) years experience in Fin Die and Fin Press maintenance and/or assembly.
- Must be capable of reading complicated blueprints and using High School level math.
- Must be capable of looking at a fin progression and identifying problems and solutions.
- Must be capable of listening to a fin press and identifying problems and solutions.
- Must be capable of determining whether to repair, salvage, or scrap defective parts.
- Must be capable of coordinating various jobs to meet production requirements.
