Filler Operator

About the role

The Filler Operator runs and maintains fillers in a continuous-flow vat to process milk, cream, and other dairy products while ensuring quality, food safety, and product specifications.

Responsibilities

• Clean, set up, operate, and monitor filler equipment.
• Complete all required quality checks and documentation.
• Collect samples needed for Quality Assurance testing.
• Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of the product; make adjustments to filler timing and filling as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
• Perform filler equipment and line changeovers safely.
• Operate wrapper equipment, watch for jams, and thread product wrap.
• Complete the cleaning checklist after each run.
• Follow all sanitation and quality policies; report any deficiencies.
• Ensure proper packaging materials are used for each product.
• Adhere to food safety and quality system requirements, including regulatory, customer, and SQF standards.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Requirements

• One or two years of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Experience analyzing and troubleshooting process data and equipment performance to improve quality and throughput.
• Basic math competency for performing calculations.
• Overtime and holiday work often required.
• Experience in the food and beverage industry preferred.
• Minimum age: 18.
• Must pass a drug screen and physical exam.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Lift, carry, lower 1–50 lbs from approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually during the shift.
• Work in very hot (>100°F) and very cold (<0°F) environments, as well as wet and humid conditions for extended periods.
• Exposed to noise, vibration, and chemicals.
• Required to stand, walk, climb, bend, twist, push, pull, and reach at, above, and below shoulder level.
• Repetitive hand/wrist motions, including simple and firm grasping.
