About the role

Sactown Sports is looking for dynamic on-air personalities to serve in a fill-in capacity. You will engage with audiences and support our mission by contributing daily on-air, off-air, and online content. A successful candidate will deliver compelling content that attracts the targeted audience, building ratings and digital users. On-air positions are generally onsite roles requiring regular work in our offices/studios, with occasional live broadcast events. Work configurations may change based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an informative, entertaining, and engaging on-air presentation that connects with the target audience, staying up-to-date with local and national topics and trends.
• Participate in promotional appearances and maintain strong listenership.
• Contribute to the company’s digital initiatives (blogs, podcasts, online listener chats, videos, etc.).
• Prepare and deliver performances, including recording, editing, and playback of telephone calls, preparation of recorded “bits,” and operation of control room console and studio equipment.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to show ideas.
• Plan, prepare, produce, and deliver content in an entertaining and professional manner consistent with the standards established by the Program Director.
• Understand and adhere to policies and FCC Rules and Regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding internal matters, company strategies, proprietary information, and sensitive data.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of on-air host experience; sports format preferred.
• Strong understanding of how to be impactful in a PPM World.
• Working knowledge of audio equipment necessary for on-air broadcasts.
• Ability to build audience loyalty by connecting personally with listeners/users.
• Ability to work independently and take direction from management/supervisors, including openness to coaching.
• Working knowledge of sports with the ability to create and deliver entertainment and sports information programs.
• Adept at guest interviews, handling callers, and hosting live events.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, passionate personalities.
• Ability to integrate content across new media platforms (internet, text messaging, emerging technologies).
• Word processing and computer skills required.
• Ability to work under pressure, present live, and ad-lib unscripted content with clarity.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and evenings, to meet deadlines.
• Understand and align with the station’s brand promise and company policies.
• Project a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients.

Physical Demands

• Effectively receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication.
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computers, radio consoles, and office equipment.
• Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods.
• Sit and/or stand for extended periods.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

Pay

$30–$50 hourly rate, determined by evaluation of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal and external benchmarks.
