Field workers (Hand Labor)

Duties

• Crop cleaning/weeding: Walk on uneven furrows, use a long handled hoe to clean out unwanted product.
• Thinning: Walk in uneven furrows, using a long handled hoe to thin out excess crop/seeds and/or weed on the seed line.
• Seed crops: Walk on uneven furrows, remove portions of the product with a lettuce knife and place into furrow.
• Occasionally perform other duties as directed by the field supervisor.

Requirements

• Lift to 50 pounds frequently.
• Able to use hand tools, including cutting knives, shears, and long handled hoes.
• Able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc.
• Must have 1 month work experience as field worker (hand labor).
• Cannot be color blind due to the need to distinguish colors of crops.
