About the role
CobbFendley is seeking an experienced SUE Field Technician in our Albuquerque, New Mexico Office.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned tasks with supervision and follow established procedures.
- Develop foundational technical and field skills.
- May operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, as needed to support specific operational tasks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use.
- May cross train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE).
- Safety + Compliance: Learn and comply with all basic safety procedures; observe and follow QA/QC processes under supervision; identify and evaluate potential hazards in the work environment; properly select and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); develop general understanding of Traffic Control Plans (TCP); begin familiarization with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing projects in their respective field.
- Technical: Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities via all quality levels within prescribed quality/accuracy limits; perform Level A (QL-A) SUE locating via nondestructive techniques; perform Level B (QL-B) SUE designating via electromagnetic equipment; perform Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning when included as part of the scope; document estimated electronic depth (ED) readings; document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and/or video; perform video inspections of sewers when necessary; record accurate documentation/sketches of underground utility field data using CF’s online GIS based mapping software; operate large profile vehicles with/without attached trailers, and perform vehicle maintenance.
- Travel is a mandatory requirement of the role as assigned. The percentage of travel will fluctuate based on business needs and at times may account for 30% of the time worked.
- Report punctually to work as scheduled and be dependable with attendance.
- May cross-train to perform other field services (Survey, Telecommunications, etc.).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding and minimal practical experience; requires guidance and supervision. No experience is required.
- Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings.
- Skills include use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.
