About the role

T-Mobile is searching for an impactful Field Technician in the Southwestern Kentucky area to join us in taking the next big leap forward. This role is centered west of Bowling Green, KY and supports network operations in South/Southwestern Kentucky by applying technical knowledge to maintain and improve network performance and reliability. The position involves providing technical assistance, managing smaller projects, and contributing to operational process improvements. Success is measured by effective technical support, timely project updates, and identification of process improvements, directly impacting network stability and service quality.

You will be a generalist, encompassing aspects of technical support, project management, and operational support while being a responsible teammate. The role requires understanding of radio access networks, backhaul, signaling, disaster recovery, data services, and location-based services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to resolve network performance issues and contribute to outage resolution efforts
  • Manage smaller projects or project segments, delivering accurate status and progress updates as required
  • Identify and recommend process improvements related to maintenance and repair activities to senior staff and management
  • Assist in developing job aids, scopes of work, and procedural documentation in collaboration with senior technicians
  • Complete required training to maintain current knowledge of systems, products, and organizational standards
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned by business management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree OR combination of education and experience deemed equivalent (Required)
  • Acceptable areas of study include Vocational/Technical Training or related field (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years of working experience in Field Operations and maintenance
  • 2-4 years of wireless telecommunications or other related experience
  • At least 21 years of age to operate a company-assigned vehicle
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Flexible hours, including day and night work, and participation in an on-call rotation for the market (weekends and holidays included)
  • Ability to lift 50-70 pounds and work outside in various environmental conditions
  • Travel required

Skills

  • Electronics: Basic operational knowledge and theory of interconnecting circuits, including RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio, AC-DC power systems, and AI (Required)
  • Radio Access Network (RAN): Practical knowledge of RAN architecture, components, and operations, with the ability to support deployment, maintenance, and optimization activities (Required). Experience with Nokia RAN technology is a plus.
  • Wireless Backhaul: Understanding of wireless backhaul technologies and configurations used to connect cell sites to the core network, including microwave and fiber-based solutions (Required)
  • Licensed Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Wireless Transport Technology: Ceragon and Ericsson experience is a plus
  • 5G New Radio (NR): Demonstrated experience with, or the ability to learn, Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and 5G NR standards as they apply to field operations (Required)
  • Base Station: Working knowledge of base station equipment, installation, configuration, and maintenance as it relates to network performance and reliability (Required)
  • Continuous Development: Actively grow skill set through ongoing training, certifications, and hands-on experience in telecommunications (Required)
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and the ability to execute contingency plans to restore network services with minimal disruption (Required)
  • Network Troubleshooting: Ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues across hardware and software systems in planned and emergency scenarios (Required)
  • Project Management: Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute field assignments efficiently, managing time, resources, and priorities to meet deadlines (Required)
  • Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical assistance and field-level support to internal teams and stakeholders (Required)
  • Attention to Detail: (Required)
  • Problem Solving / Troubleshooting: Solves problems using creativity and innovation (Required)
  • Computer Fluency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and similar productivity tools; understanding of Internet Protocol and willingness to incorporate AI-driven tools (Required)
  • Ability to use fiber test, line, and antenna test equipment (Preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Preferred)
  • Self-motivated; exhibits initiative in achieving company goals and objectives (Preferred)
  • Basic leadership skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks (Preferred)
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment (Preferred)
  • Flexibility with ever-changing environments and priorities (Preferred)

Pay

The national base pay range for this role is $27.16 - $48.99 per hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on work location, qualifications, and experience. Most Corporate employees are eligible for an annual bonus target of 10% based on company and/or individual performance.
