Field Technician III

About the role

Field Mechanic III at Sunstate Equipment Co. – Hiring immediately. Pay is dependent on experience and paid weekly. Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM (overtime eligible). Pay range starts at $30/hour+ with discretionary quarterly branch performance bonus. Located in Buda, TX.

Responsibilities

• Perform field maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of diesel, heavy equipment, and construction equipment safely and according to manufacturer specifications.
• Self‑diagnose, troubleshoot, prioritize, and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment including earthmoving equipment, generators, rollers, and related rental equipment.
• Participate in an every‑other‑week on‑call rotation (Sunday through Sunday) and receive additional on‑call incentive pay for eligible assignments.
• Complete work orders, document repairs, order parts, and maintain accurate service records using basic computer skills.
• Communicate professionally with customers, branch teams, and other technicians.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of field experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, or construction equipment technician (4+ years preferred).
• Must provide own professional tools valued at $10,000+.
• Basic computer skills for work orders, parts ordering, and service record keeping.
• Stable work history and interest in building a long‑term career with Sunstate.

Qualifications

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, Tier 4, and aftertreatment systems.
• Experience servicing and repairing construction and heavy equipment, including earthmoving equipment, generators, rollers, and related rental equipment.
• Electrical, HVAC, and generator experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload while providing excellent customer service.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety and quality.
