Field Technician III
About the role
Sunstate Equipment Co. is seeking a Field Mechanic III to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a minimum of 4 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, particularly in construction equipment or rental settings. The role requires proficient troubleshooting and diagnosing skills with electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel engines, including Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems. Major and minor repairs on diesel and gas engines, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive trains are essential. The position also involves inspecting, servicing, and testing equipment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications, and performing routine service tasks such as checking fluid levels and changing fluids.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine service on equipment, including checking fluid levels and changing fluids and lubricants.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment, including warranty records.
- Novice level welding repairs using MIG and SMAW techniques.
- Support the team to achieve goals and work well as part of a team.
- Be a self-starter and motivated to be successful.
Requirements
A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a diesel mechanic, with a construction equipment or rental background required. Proficient troubleshooting and diagnosing skills with electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel engines, including Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems required. Experience performing major and minor repairs on diesel and gas engines, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, as well as drive trains is required. Necessary tools valued at $10,000+ in total.
Qualifications
Having mechanic experience working on industrial pumps, power equipment, and HVAC is a plus! Having a TWIC or Safety Council OSHA Basic Plus certification is preferred, but not required. Basic computer knowledge for service work orders, parts ordering, and service-related tasks is necessary.

Pay
Pay Range: Dependent on Experience, starting pay $30 - $38 per hour, and discretionary quarterly branch performance bonus.
Schedule
Typical Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Overtime Eligible)
