Field Technician I - EMERYVILLE, CA

About the role

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician I to join our dynamic team. This role involves managing assets, troubleshooting network equipment, and performing various installations and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Processes deliveries and replenishes consumables
• Maintains tools, test sets, and electronic equipment
• Installs and tests DS0 thru OC192 services
• Assists in installing and testing Next Generation technologies
• Performs preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections on equipment and critical infrastructure
• Updates installation records and logs
• Provides status updates and reports on assignments
• Evaluates individual performance against objectives

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Up to 2 years of relevant job experience
• Experience in at least one of the following technician disciplines: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, or Outside Plant
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., work in all weather conditions, and have PC skills
• Valid driver’s license
• On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant job experience
• Attention to detail and good organizational capabilities
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively

Skills

• Basic knowledge of installation/change/decommissioning/testing of transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers

Schedule
