Field Technician (Gas Module Exchange) Portland, OR

About the role

Southern Cross has immediate openings for Entry-Level Field Technician (Gas Module Exchange). You will be responsible for the replacement of gas modules, including daily driving as required by assigned geographic areas. You will also be expected to process required data accurately and meet all required completion dates. Step‑by‑step training will be provided to ensure you are comfortable with the process and have a solid understanding of work expectations. Work location varies around the Portland and Salem areas. New candidates will need to commute approximately two weeks during the training period to the warehouse at 18300 SW Boones Ferry Rd, Portland, OR 97224. After training, information will be provided on reporting locations for needed supplies and company vehicle pick‑up areas. A company vehicle is provided for daily use (pick up/drop off).

• Manage daily assigned tasks for safety, quality, and efficiency to exceed customer expectations
• Schedule and plan work efficiently
• Follow all safety rules, organizational policies, and procedures
• Keep Operator Qualifications current
• Interact with the public, client’s customers, and client’s personnel professionally, respectfully, and cordially
• Accurately complete task reports and work‑related reports in a timely manner
• Protect, inspect, and maintain assigned equipment and vehicle

Qualifications

• Technical aptitude and past/former technical training are a plus
• Computer or Smart Phone literate
• Able to read maps and navigate congested areas in large cities
• Adept at using hand tools and equipment
• Pass all Operator Qualification training/testing pertaining to meter work/meter reading to proceed with employment
• Primary speaking language should be English
• High school diploma or GED
• Required to pass background check and drug screening prior to hire
• Must have a good driving record and hold a valid driver’s license
• Must be able/willing to travel locally (possible overnight travel on occasion)
• Physically able to bend, squat and move heavy objects; use a pipe wrench/other hand tools; lift and reach overhead

Pay

Rate of pay: $20/hr with $0.50 raises after 60 days and again after 180 days.
