Field Technician (Gas Module Exchange) Portland, OR

Southern Cross has immediate openings for Entry-Level Field Technician (Gas Module Exchange). The role involves replacing gas modules, daily driving within assigned geographic areas, and accurately processing required data to meet completion dates. Training will be provided, and work locations vary around the Portland and Salem areas. New hires will commute for approximately two weeks to the warehouse at 18300 SW Boones Ferry Rd, Portland, OR 97224 for training; thereafter reporting locations for supplies and vehicle pick‑up will be provided. A company vehicle is provided for daily use.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily assigned tasks for safety, quality, and efficiency to exceed customer expectations.
• Schedule and plan work efficiently.
• Follow all safety rules, organizational policies, and procedures.
• Keep Operator Qualifications current.
• Interact professionally with the public, client’s customers, and client’s personnel.
• Accurately complete task and work‑related reports in a timely manner.
• Protect, inspect, and maintain assigned equipment and vehicle.

Requirements

• Pass all Operator Qualification training/testing related to meter work/meter reading.
• Primary speaking language: English.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Pass background check and drug screening prior to hire.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Willingness to travel locally; occasional overnight travel possible.
• Physical ability to bend, squat, move heavy objects, use a pipe wrench or other hand tools, lift and reach overhead.

Education and Experience

• Technical aptitude; past or former technical training is a plus.
• Computer or smartphone literate.
• Able to read maps and navigate congested areas in large cities.
• Adept at using hand tools and equipment.

Pay

Rate of pay: $20 per hour, with $0.50 raises after 60 days and again after 180 days. Potential bonus incentives may be offered.
