Field Technician

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Cathodic Protection (CP) Technician to join our growing team in Nashville. We embrace diverse backgrounds and are enthusiastic about training the right candidates. This position requires 75% travel anywhere in the U.S. and offers significant overtime while traveling for projects.

About the role

Our CP Technicians work with cathodic protection systems by installing, commissioning, monitoring, evaluating, maintaining, and repairing various assets. This role ensures systems operate in compliance with industry procedures and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations. It involves significant travel and field work, with opportunities to learn from in-house experts, pursue advanced certifications (e.g., Cathodic Protection Specialist), and experiment with cutting-edge technologies.

This position is the entry-level path to developing subject matter expertise, CP and AC mitigation design and engineering, and advanced industry certifications. Industry certification is possible within 6 months of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures
• Prepare for planned cathodic protection projects
• Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)
• Operate and use testing equipment
• Perform troubleshooting on cathodic protection systems
• Gather data and prepare records and reports in a timely manner
• Install, maintain, and repair components of a cathodic protection system
• Ensure work aligns with company goals
• Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines
• Learn and apply applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements (CFR 49 Part 192 & 195) and AMPP standards and test methods

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s or associate degrees preferred
• Ability to travel extensively (75%) for physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
• Capability to operate a company vehicle, ATV-UTV, and use general hand/power tools
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
• Commitment to working safely and producing high-quality, ethical service
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Highly motivated and thrives in a dynamic, team-based environment
• Desire to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and management across locations
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs
• Desire to learn and understand basic cathodic protection principles
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and build positive working relationships
• Clear verbal and written communication skills

Pay

Starting pay for this role is $22–$26/hour, depending on experience, with significant overtime expected.

Schedule

This is an hourly position with extensive travel (75%) and anticipated overtime. Travel may involve airlines, company-provided vehicles, or personal vehicles (with mileage compensation and a daily truck rate), as well as per diem allowances.
