About the role
Field Service Technician specializing in telecommunications, structured cabling, and technology. The role involves completing cable runs, hardware moves, adds, changes, and “smart hands” installations for Granite customers within a 50-mile service area. The technician will lead subcontracted crews on larger projects and report to a remote supervisor. A company vehicle is provided.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with the NI team members and departments that schedule each service call
- Complete basic structured cabling repairs and new installations according to industry standard practices
- Perform Smart Hands installations and maintenance across various technology platforms and changing SOWs
- Provide all required job and project deliverables within 24 hours or as specified in an SOW
- Maintain company vehicle in clean and serviced condition
- Keep all materials and tools stocked; accountability maintained through scheduled inventory counts
Requirements
- 5–10 years of structured cabling experience
- Ability to tone and test copper wiring/analog dial tone
- Ability to terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling
- Ability to terminate and test Coax cabling
- Ability to patch and roll fiber
- Laptop skills (Excel, Putty/Hyper Terminal for remote sessions with engineers/NOC)
- Basic networking (Modem GUIs, command prompts, initiating remote sessions)
- Light travel
- Clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Certifications
- Wireless knowledge (ability to utilize Ekahau software)
- Lift Certified
- OSHA Certifications
- A+ networking certification
- Fiber certifications
Pay
The compensation range for this position is $29/hour to $35/hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, education, job-related skills, and overall alignment with the role.
