About the role

If you love working in the field, driving vehicles, interacting with customers, and advancing with ongoing learning opportunities, this Field Technician role at Sparklight (a Cable One company) offers an extensive training program with both one-on-one and group training classes. You’ll have access to mentors, a company truck, all necessary tools, and uniforms—from hats to boots—to ensure your success.

Responsibilities

  • Install customer service drops or outlets in residential and business properties.
  • Use electronic test equipment and online diagnostic tools to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair reception performance issues.
  • Ensure proper upstream and downstream signal levels at each termination on the customer’s premises.
  • Proactively suggest upgrades of existing services and educate customers on their equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support company goals and values.

Requirements

  • Good driving record and a valid driver’s license in the state you are applying.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and on-call as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to present solutions positively.
  • Ability to work in small/confined areas, lift up to 80 lbs., use a ladder, and work in all weather conditions.
  • At least 3 months of customer service or related experience/training (or equivalent education).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Pre-hire Processes

Job offers are contingent on passing background checks, drug screening, and reference checks. For DOT-regulated positions, additional requirements include a road test, driver’s record safety review, DOT physical, and past employer safety history verification. Driving records are retrieved, and random drug testing is conducted in accordance with DOT policy.
