About the Role

Lead and train other technicians while performing assigned jobs. Promote good attitudes and aesthetics that represent WPI. Maintain daily communication with customers regarding job progress or any special circumstances that may delay completion. Promote safe work practices and ensure all HSE requirements, including JSA, are followed. Complete detailed daily service ticket reports, review them with the customer, and obtain signatures. Keep your supervisor/management informed of job progression daily. Tag and turn in all warranty or core part items for processing immediately upon job completion, including all unit information (e.g., serial number, location, customer, engine hours).

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor/management or lead technician.
  • Responsible for the development of other technicians.
  • Able to read schematics, blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
  • Determine the best possible procedure to perform jobs safely and effectively.
  • Perform GEW Service Bulletin upgrades as set by the factory.
  • Inspect own work at each step, checking tolerances and correct fit.
  • Demonstrate excellent productivity for job tasks being performed.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.
  • Work safely and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Perform required Preventative Maintenance activities on machinery, equipment, air tools, air compressors, trucks, cranes, etc.
  • Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) of every job assigned and review with crew.
  • Must own basic tooling for the position, including:
    • Open-end and boxed-end wrenches from 1/4" to 2".
    • 3/8", 1/2", and 3/4" ratchet and socket sets.
    • Air impacts (3/8", 1/2").
    • Screwdriver sets.
    • Hammers and sledges.
    • A Fluke 87 volt-ohm meter (minimum).
  • Aid customers as requested and approved by the lead technician.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor/management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on Industrial Engines (gas/diesel, etc.).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Has attended and passed the OEM Engine Specification and Design course or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that complies with WPI insurance requirements.

Skills

  • Knowledge of OEM equipment and proficiency in troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience with tooling.
  • Advanced mechanical principles and mathematics.
  • Blueprint and schematic reading.
  • Proficiency in electrical diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (basic operation, Windows, and Microsoft Office).
  • Understanding of electronic controls such as PLCs, Murphy panels, Altronic, and ESM.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools.
  • Truck crane operation experience.
