Primary Responsibilities
- Adjust & operate surveying instruments (e.g.: prisms, total stations, GPS/electronic distance-measuring equipment, auto-levels, etc.).
- Record survey measurements & descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, and data collection files.
- Use rods for bench loops and cross-section elevations.
- Position targets that Operators use for sighting in order to measure angles, distances, and elevations.
- Search, stake, and recover sectional & property corners together with other survey monumentation.
- Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush to clear lines, carrying materials (i.e.: stakes, rebar, and other items), and staking survey monumentation.
- Perform construction staking activities.
Basic Requirements
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- A Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training in Land Surveying or a related field of study (especially Civil Engineering).
- Experience working in field-based roles with physically-demanding tasks.
- Exposure to relevant technologies / tools (e.g.: Total Stations, HDLS, GIS, etc.); experience with RTS (Robotic Total Stations), GPS, Leica Geosystems HW & SW, and/or Faro High-Definition Laser Scanning equipment is a plus!
- Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications, especially with MS-Excel.
- Proven ability to adapt to new situations; this person will be expected to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
