About the role

The Field Support Technician supports the repair and upkeep of all store IT equipment, including front-end and perimeter registers, rack equipment, and other IT-supported devices. Acting as the on-site representative for offsite troubleshooting teams, the Technician manages work assignments via a ticketing system and self-manages daily tasks with minimal supervision. This role requires professionalism, courtesy, and maturity as the primary IT contact in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize a customer-first approach to minimize disruption to store operations while achieving optimal results.
  • Maintain and repair all store IT equipment, including registers, rack equipment, and other supported devices.
  • Coordinate with offsite departments to eliminate duplicative efforts.
  • Operate and maintain a company vehicle for travel to store locations.
  • Manage inventory and recordkeeping for equipment and tools.
  • Travel routinely to stores to troubleshoot, repair, and resolve IT equipment issues.
  • Communicate and collaborate with IT departments and engineering teams on field issues.
  • Process tickets and time recordings accurately to ensure issue resolution.
  • Assist in the coordination or deployment of new technology as needed.
  • Perform light carpentry work for lane installations (e.g., using power tools).
  • Maintain the cleanliness and timely maintenance of the company service van.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience.
  • 2-year Associate’s Degree and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with an unrestricted DMV record.
  • Licensed by the California Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures division as an Agent.
  • Up to 30% travel, including overnight stays.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain a good driving record for operating a company service van.

Skills

  • Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics, networking, cabling, and servers.
  • Familiarity with POS equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving and fact-finding skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to use power tools and perform light carpentry work.

Pay

Hiring pay range: $24.29 - $31.88 per hour.
