Under the supervision of the Managing Director of the Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification, the Field Supervisor plays a vital role in the development of a high-quality student/supervised teaching program. The Field Supervisor serves as liaison between Manhattanville University and placement schools, observing, evaluating, and conferring with each assigned student/supervised teacher (and cooperating teacher, if applicable).
Responsibilities
- Guide student/supervised teachers in submitting their Teacher Candidate Assessment Portfolios (TCAP).
- Conduct at least three (3) supervisory visits to each assigned student/supervised teacher, with additional visits as needed based on educational requirements.
- Communicate with Seminar Professors who lead weekly integrating seminars, which cover theory, teaching strategies, curriculum, materials, resources, self-reflection, and self-analysis.
- Collect, review, reflect on, and discuss assessment information with student/supervised teachers to produce a final report for their file.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in education.
- Certification to teach elementary, secondary, or special education.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience (preferred).
- Experience teaching diverse populations of children or youth.
- Availability during school day hours.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online collaboration platforms.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Pay
$500 per student observed plus mileage.
Schedule
Part-time, 29 hours or less per week. Hours vary based on the number of students assigned.
