Field Supervisor, Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification
About the role
The University Field Supervisor (FS) plays a crucial role in the development of a high-quality student/supervised teaching program. This position serves as a liaison between Manhattanville University and placement schools, observing, evaluating, and conferring with each student/supervised teacher.
Responsibilities
- Guiding the student/supervised teacher in submitting their Teacher Candidate Assessment Portfolios (TCAP).
- Making at least three (3) supervisory visits to each assigned student/supervised teacher.
- Communicating with Seminar Professors who conduct weekly integrating seminars.
- Collecting, reviewing, reflecting, and discussing all assessment information with each student/supervised teacher.
- Arriving at a final report that will be placed in the student/supervised teacher’s file.
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in education.
- Certification to teach elementary, secondary, or special education.
- A minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience teaching diverse populations of children or youth.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite and online collaboration platforms.
Pay
$500 per student observed plus mileage.
Schedule
Varies upon number of students assigned. Part-time, 29 hours or less per week.
