About the role

The Illinois State Archaeological Survey’s (ISAS) Northern Illinois Field Station (NIFS) – located in Elgin, IL – is seeking archaeological field supervisors with previous field and laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Phase I pedestrian and shovel test surveys
• Be responsible for general project management including archival background research, landowner interaction, site mapping and documentation, artifact processing and inventory, and report writing
• May also participate in and/or supervise Phase II testing and Phase III mitigation projects

Requirements

• Hold, at a minimum, a B.A. or B.S. degree
• Prioritize candidates with previous experience supervising archaeological field projects in the Midwestern United States
• Prioritize candidates with previous GIS mapping experience
• Prioritize candidates with experience writing technical reports
