About the role
As Field Supervisor you will oversee multiple crews, ensuring work is completed on schedule and to the company standard. You will also manage subcontractor relations and enforce safety across all jobs in your area.
Responsibilities
- Manage and train employees; schedule work for crews; ensure employees follow rules, practices, policies, and schedules are met on time
- Review paperwork such as dailies, timecards, and billing to ensure accuracy
- Perform pre- and post-inspections of jobs, pre-survey work, and place one-calls; ensure work is complete and clean-up is done
- Assist crews as needed
- Represent the company with customers, subcontractors, vendors, property owners, and utilities
- Maintain and move equipment
- Ensure all corporate policies and procedures are followed and contribute to company strategies and plans
- Responsible for safety on all jobsite(s), including all employees and any other employers near the jobsite
- Ensure the Company Safety Program is followed on each jobsite under your supervision and that there are no unsafe conditions or acts
- Ensure necessary safety equipment is available, in proper working order, and employees are trained in safe procedures
- Conduct periodic safety inspections, gate checks, and Job Safety Observations (JSO)
- Investigate all accidents and complete accident reports within 4 hours of occurrence
- Conduct weekly safety meetings with all employees
- Supervise hourly employees and crew foremen
Requirements
- Minimum of three to five years of utility construction experience
- One to two years of experience supervising employees and managing crews
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize effectively
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with management, internal and external customers
- Advanced mathematical skills
- General computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office
- Problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate and resolve issues
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUIs or serious traffic violations)
- CDL Class “A” license preferred
Physical Demands
- May require sitting or standing for extended periods
- Walking on level or uneven surfaces throughout the day
- Reaching above shoulder heights or below the waist
- Lifting up to 75 pounds, with or without accommodation
- Use of personal protective equipment, including hard hats, vests, safety glasses, and safety shoes
