About the role

As a Gas Lift and Packer Field Specialist, you’ll be at the center of Weatherford’s Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) Field Operations—bringing advanced technology to life, solving real-world challenges, and delivering exceptional service quality to our customers. Responsibilities grow with experience:

  • Entry-level specialists build foundational skills under direct supervision.
  • Intermediate specialists gain autonomy, interface with clients, and support job planning and execution.
  • Senior specialists lead crews, troubleshoot complex issues, influence product improvements, and manage advanced technologies at the well site.

At every level, you’ll apply proven techniques, follow industry-leading procedures, and contribute to safe, efficient, high-quality service delivery. Senior specialists may also support research initiatives, interpret data for clients, and manage the installation of complex equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, assembling, and testing of gas lift systems and packers.
  • Running jobs in the field—installing downhole equipment including packers, gas lift equipment, and other associated equipment; tally and spacing out of systems.
  • Participates in all daily operations and safety meetings, toolbox, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and reports any issues promptly using the appropriate tools.
  • Maintains equipment, facilities, and work area in presentable and safe working conditions.
  • Monitors and analyzes data to recommend services and solutions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to perform work processes according to role level experience and competence.
  • Performs job planning, preparation of tools and equipment, mobilization, job execution, and submits all job-related data, including job reports, WPTS data entry, observation cards, service tickets or logs with required signatory, and other documents to successfully invoice the client within an acceptable time.
  • Available on a 24-hour call basis to respond to customer needs.
  • Tests, operates, and maintains tools and equipment as per work instructions, policies, and procedures in safe and presentable working conditions against level of training and competence.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Fully responsible for delivering superior service quality to the client.
  • Effectively manages inventory and supplies required at the well site.
  • Follows up on failures with the R&M team and ensures failure reports are closed with clients.
  • Contributes, participates, or leads equipment failure investigations that support Root Cause Analysis reports.
  • Where the level of the role requires, oversees, leads, and mentors Field Operation crew members.
  • Senior-level roles may act as technical advisors to management and interpret data for client representatives to optimize services.
  • Intermediate and senior-level roles perform engineering checks while on client location, including hand calculations, updates of software computations, or new computations based on the latest data.
  • Senior-level Field Specialists manage the installation of complex equipment and/or services in the field.
  • Performs other duties and activities safely as assigned by the supervisor within physical constraints of the job.

Requirements

High School Diploma.

1 – 2 ½ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Certificate from an accredited Technical/Vocational School.
  • 2+ years of experience with packers and/or gas lift preferred.

Skills

  • Downhole and installation experience in the field—packers and gas lift equipment.
  • Fundamentals of Mechanics, Electricity, Electronics, Pneumatics, and/or Hydraulics.
  • Mathematics, Basic Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Computer fundamentals.
  • Critical thinking, active learning and listening, complex problem solving.
  • Good reading and writing skills, strong judgment, and decision-making aligned with policies and procedures.
  • Time management and quality control analysis to ensure products meet required standards.
  • Service orientation.
  • Physically capable of performing the tasks required for the role.
  • Information and task ordering, ability to identify potential problems and solutions.
  • Ability to react effectively and efficiently in operating tools and machinery.
  • Ability to visualize tools and products during preparation for assembly, repair, or modifications.
  • Mathematical reasoning.

Travel

This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to 50-75%.
