About the role

Entry-level position that assists in the running of one or more compression jobs with responsibility for the operation of compressor packages and equipment including rentals. Provides feedback for the development of the location’s operating policies and material forecasts for assigned units. Has entry-level diagnostic and repair skills. May assist other field positions on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Performs job activities in a manner consistent with Kodiak’s procedures/protocols, goals and objectives.
  • Troubleshoots basic issues and builds troubleshooting skill set both on the job and through classroom training.
  • Attends and participates in all HSE meetings and ensures adherence to all HSE protocols.
  • Analyzes job parts and supply inventory to effectively communicate needs with Supply Chain.
  • Maintains customer relationships.
  • Takes all corrective actions necessary, with assistance if needed, to ensure guaranteed 98% or better mechanical availability of equipment.
  • Maintains assigned units in a clean and presentable condition.
  • Completes proper reports and actions required by the area’s operating procedures/policies.
  • Provides 24/7 coverage, including overtime and on-call rotations (work after regular hours, weekends, and holidays).
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Preferred: OEM, Trade School, or comparable work experience in a related field/industry.
  • Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program.
  • Some knowledge of gas processes and mechanics of motor compressors (e.g., Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar).
  • 1-year compression process, production, and equipment-related experience and/or training.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of compressor packages, including components and systems.
  • Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Valid Driver’s License with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within acceptable parameters of Company Policy.

Physical Demands

  • Operation of heavy equipment.
  • Standing for up to 75% of the time; sitting for up to 25% of the time.
  • Climbing ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment; maintaining balance without assistance.
  • Communicating and responding to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues/alarms in person, on the telephone, and via mobile devices.
  • Frequent lifting of at least 10 pounds; infrequent lifting of over 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to high noise environments (>85dbA) requiring ear protection.
  • Potential, controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Moving and maintaining self in various positions (stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl) in tight and confined spaces.
  • Wearing all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
  • Frequent use of computer and office equipment (e.g., typing, copier, printer, telephone).
