Responsibilities

  • Expedite the daily activities of all operational functions ensuring client satisfaction is successfully achieved and company policies adhered to with the goal of improving profitability for the company
  • Supervise day-to-day airport ramp operations; loading and unloading of cargo aircraft within internal compliance regulations and recovery and lodgment of consolidations with commercial carriers
  • Supervise warehouse sort operations processing international import and export shipments
  • Supervise back office staff, responsible for monitoring flights, communicating and updating the network, and ensuring contingencies are deployed when necessary
  • Work closely with US Customs and DHL Imports clearance department to ensure correct processing of shipments
  • Develop and manage relationships with Business Partners
  • Responsible for development and implementation of special projects
  • Ensure quality system is implemented and maintained within area of responsibility
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators and cost levels
  • Assist in annual budget preparation
  • Provide technical product assistance to staff
  • Advise staff of changes to company policies and goals
  • Supervise a unionized workforce of 8-12 staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff
  • Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes
  • Set objectives and deliver results with a short-term, operational focus
  • Recommend process improvements for area; identify, define, and develop solutions to issues and problems that are not immediately evident in existing systems
  • Focus on maintaining steady workflow and productivity, meeting service/productivity standards, and resolving operational problems and handling disturbances
  • Assign and check work
  • Heavy use of MS Office products in day-to-day activities (in particular Excel and Outlook)
  • Provide guidance and training
  • Motivate self and others to exceed standards and achieve extraordinary results, striving for best in class
  • Provide input to hiring, firing, layoff, promotion, reward, and other decisions

Requirements

  • Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in function or business area
  • Advanced understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered
  • Knowledge and effective use of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, budgeting, and cost control
  • General understanding of basic supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary action
  • BS/BA and 2 years’ experience in a related field, including at least one year of supervisory experience
  • Professional certification required in some areas
  • Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets Driving Privileges standards
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must pass pre-employment background, drug, and medical physical screening

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to seventy (70) lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to lift forty (40) lbs frequently
  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs, reach overhead, squat, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch repeatedly
