Field Services Engineer- Phoenix, Arizona
About the role
A Field Service Engineer spends most of their time in the field or at a customer site where they help troubleshoot equipment problems. The role directly supports our Weather business, providing field maintenance to various systems including Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Automated Weather Observations Systems (AWOS), Control Tower and NAVAIDS, and Road/Runway Weather Information Systems (RWIS).
Responsibilities
- Manage a customer portfolio.
- Provide routine maintenance checks on a schedule and within regulatory compliance (FAA, DOT etc).
- Provide timely and detailed site reports to central office following all customer visits.
- Use company RM3 monitor tools to manage customer outages/uptime of systems.
- Perform all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks.
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solution.
- Provide field calls to customer system outages.
- Manage inventory of company-owned spare parts.
- Manage monthly expense reporting.
- Manage company-owned vehicle – routine maintenance, brake checks, oil changes as needed.
- Follow all company procedures and protocols.
Requirements
- Five years of Field Service experience.
- Able to drive up to 8 hours per day.
- Able to travel 75% of the time.
- Able to lift up to 50-70 pounds.
- Able to climb 30-foot towers and properly use all safety climbing equipment.
- Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment.
- Ability to document testing procedures and written work in FAA/DOT logbooks.
- Knowledge of regulatory rules or requirements of job site, inclusive of OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Ability to work independently on-site (most of the time only person on-site).
- Ability to replace/install sensors upon failure.
- Ability to communicate any field issues/concerns to customer and/or to supervisor or central office.
- Proper use of test equipment, hand-held tools, and power tools as needed.
- Proper testing of power source and voltage.
- Valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- ILS Certification (a plus but not required).
- FCC license (a plus but not required).
